Channels

Channels are the primary configuration unit for signage displays. Each physical screen or group of screens is associated with a channel. Channels define what content plays, when it plays, and how it looks.

Creating a Channel

Open the New Channel modal.

Field Required Notes
Venue Yes The venue this channel belongs to.
Name Yes Max 64 characters.
Description No Internal notes.
Location No Physical location description. Max 128 characters.
Active No Defaults to active.

Note: Accounts have a maximum channel limit. If the limit is reached, the New Channel button will be disabled.

Channel Configuration (Device Settings)

From the channel profile, open Edit > Device Configuration to configure low-level device settings.

Field Notes
Lock to Signage Mode When enabled, the channel only runs signage content — raffle mode is disabled.
Display On Time Time the screen turns on each day. Both on and off times must be set for the feature to work.
Display Off Time Time the screen turns off each day.
Server Admin-only. Which signage server handles this channel.

Channel Style

From Edit > Channel Style to configure appearance and transition settings.

Field Notes
Animation Type Transition animation between slides. Options depend on available animation types.
Show Clock Shows a clock overlay on-screen. Available when Signage Plus module is not active.
Overlay Clock or weather overlay in one of five screen positions. Requires Signage Plus module.
Overlay Location Location string used for weather overlay. Max 128 characters. Requires Signage Plus module.
Raffle Style Display style for raffle draws: "Slide in" or "Spins". Requires Signage Plus module.

Adding Content to a Channel

Content is added to a channel via fullscreen modals. When adding content, you can set one or more schedule blocks — each block defines a time/day window when that content should play. A live 24h × 7-day grid previews the blocks as you set them.

Add Playlist

Add one or more playlists to the channel. Set on-screen time per advert (default 30 seconds) and scheduling options.

Add Advert

Add one or more image adverts directly to the channel. Set on-screen time and scheduling.

Add Menu

Add one or more menu adverts. Set on-screen time and scheduling.

Add Video

Add one or more video adverts. Scheduling only — no on-screen time (video plays its full duration).

Schedule Fields (per block)

Field Required Default Notes
On-Screen Time Yes (not for video) 30 seconds How long each advert shows per cycle.
Start Date No
End Date No
Start Time No Daily start of window.
End Time No Daily end of window.
Days of Week No All days Mon–Sun checkboxes.

Managing Content Mappings

From the channel profile's content table, each assigned item has options to:

  • Edit Mapping — Update the schedule (on-screen time, dates, times, days).
  • Suspend / Resume — Toggle a specific item on/off without removing it.
  • Remove — Remove the item from the channel.

Bulk operations are available via checkboxes to suspend, resume, or remove multiple items at once.

Scheduling Interrupts

An interrupt temporarily overrides the current channel content to play a specific item immediately or at a scheduled time.

Open Schedule Interrupt from the channel profile. Fields:

Field Required Notes
Content Category Yes Advert, Video, Audio, or Menu.
Content Item Yes Searchable dropdown populated based on the selected category.
Target Devices Yes Select one or more devices for this channel. Online/offline status is shown for each device.
Interrupt Type Yes Now (immediate), Daily, Weekly, or Custom (specific date/time).
Time / Date Conditional Required for all types except "Now".
Timezone Conditional Shown for scheduled types. Defaults to your session timezone.
Duration Yes How long the interrupt plays, in seconds. Default 60.

Interrupts are dispatched to devices via the MQTT worker system.

Resetting a Channel

Reset Channel (or Refresh) forces a checksum recalculation, signalling all connected devices to re-fetch the channel's content immediately.

Channel Profile Information

The channel profile shows:

  • Channel name, venue, location, status
  • Active advert/playlist/video count
  • Assigned device list with online/offline status
  • Full content mapping table with scheduling details
